Business and life partners Anthony and Aga launched Prime Ceramics in Cardiff in 2020, with a mission to offer an exceptional level of highly aesthetic restorations in-hand with an inspired level of patient care.

What is "Slow Dentistry”?

Anthony and Aga's motivation to excel perfectly matches the zeitgeist among the new wave of dentists practicing “slow dentistry”. Considered a new phenomenon, “slow dentistry” promotes the practice of taking a longer, more detailed approach to every patient restoration. In particular, encouraging technicians to meet the patient is advantageous when creating highly aesthetic restorations. Technicians obtain a clearer picture by taking shade readings and photographs themselves. It enhances the likelihood of a successful outcome, and removes the burden from the clinician of having to relay all visual observations; cutting out the potential for mis interpretation.

Anthony says, “With Instagram, standards are so high. Patients expect the best. However, sometimes they have unrealistic expectations and it is important to manage these. Certain results cannot always be achieved for the individual, either due to contraindications, or natural genetics. To have a closer
relationship with the clinician and patient really benefits the patient in the long run. There is a time and place for veneers, yet, I believe in many cases, a minimally invasive approach involving ortho treatment followed by restorative work is better in the long run.”

Anthony began his Dental Technician apprenticeship in a lab in Cardiff after his art studies, so naturally high aesthetics are high priority. He learned the trade on the job, and became GDC verified through the grandfather clause. He now attends regular courses in addition to continually researching new
techniques.
